Sutton Valence Men’s 1st XI will be competing in their third season in Kent Sussex Division 1 coming second by only 3 points last season and only missing out on promotion in the playoffs against a very strong Slough side. Despite not having the resources of the large towns the club are very ambitious and the team are looking to achieve Premier league hockey status. They got promoted into the league on the back of an unbeaten season which saw them win the league and start a new drive of ambition. The team are very keen to recruit more players and would welcome any potential members to attend their Wednesday squad sessions.

- Report
- After a long break of 15 days without so much as a touch of ball on stick due to weather problems, Sutton Valence knew that a hard battle was in no doubt, in their away game against Old Williamsonians.
Changing their formation to suit their game, Valence soon settled in and were playing positive hard hockey.
A goal from Steve Waldrom from a p-flick saw Sutton Valence settle and 1: 0 was feeling comfortable. Debutant Daryl Cassidy looked cool and slotted in nicely to the side.
A turned down p-flick against Waldrom saw Valence surge and a well executed strike by Waldrom from a gained short corner made it 2 : 0. Briggs and Pascoe worked well and Gillet was a work horse, but after a sending off for Dion Ashton, Valence had to battle on with ten men. Then debutant Daryl Cassidy made it 3 : 0 as Gillet eased him the ball to slot home.
But for having ten men for the remainder of the second-half, Sutton Valence could have scored two or three more, but the finishing touch was missing
Battling hard, Sutton Valence were very comfortable, even after a scrappy goal against them, with a final result of 3 : 1.
A good, gutsy performance. With a shoot-out between Marden and Sutton Valence for League champions appearing inevitable, Sutton Valence are getting stronger each week and looking forward to the close-fought final stages of this League battle. - Team
